On behalf of all St. Dominic Savio Schools head-teachers, I wish to extend a hearty warm and loving  welcome to all our students in the year 2021. It is notable that the past year 2020 had a myriad challenges. We are grateful that the path of accomplishment. Of course we insist on keeping with good practices as recommended by the ministry of health for the safety of our community.

We have established procedures and action plan for all in our community to be followed to the letter. We have planned ahead with local health authorities, school health staff and updated emergency contact lists. We have ensured a procedure for separating sick students and staff from those who are well–without creating unnecessary upheaval and fear, taking care while informing parents/caregivers, and consulting with health care providers/health authorities wherever possible. Students/staff may need to be referred directly to a health facility, depending on the situation/context, or sent home. We are intending to purposefully share these procedures with staff, parents and students all the time spearheaded by our resident medical professional Ms Augusta. This year I wish to address myself to parents on certain matters.

On behalf of the staff at St Dominic Savio, I am happy to welcome you to the 2021 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a significant difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.

Our theme for this year is: Promoting Excellence Through Determination And Hard work. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

  • Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
  • Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
  • Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
  • Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
  • Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
  • Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to secondary school, college / university
